Soft Sugar Cookies

At cast party after our middle school production of The Hysterical History of the Trojan War (best play ever!), several of the students got excited when we brought out the bakery sugar cookies. You know the kind – they’re soft, have a dollop of icing on the top, and then have some kind of sprinkles. One of our boys picked up his cookie and announced “You either like these, or you’re wrong!” Apparently, I’m wrong.

This incident sent me on a search for a good homemade recipe that I could bring the next year. I found one for Softbatch Funfetti Sugar Cookies on Averie Cooks (great blog!). They have good taste, are quite simple, and come out soft every time. I left out the sprinkles and added some buttercream on top so they look more like the bakery ones. The kids loved them!

The Relief Society had a cookie exchange this year. I was going to make Double Chocolate Chip cookies (they look very festive with crushed peppermint pieces in place of chocolate chips), but then I decided to go out on a limb and try something different.
