How to Remove Jar Labels

Removing jar labels

My little guy is eating baby food. You know what that means:

The first step to getting my hundreds of jars ready is to get that awful goop off. You know, this stuff:

Pinterest has multiple methods. The only one I had the stuff for was the vegetable oil and baking soda method. They call it homemade goop-off. Here’s the extremely complicated recipe:

  • Homemade Goop-Off

  • 1 Tbsp baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • Mix ingredients together. Apply to surface. Leave for 1 hour. Rinse with warm water.

Instructions

Start by removing the label from your jar.

It never all comes off, right? This is where your homemade goop-off will be helpful. Just rub it on the jar and let it sit for about an hour.

After at least an hour, rinse the goop-off off with warm water. You may also need to use a scrub brush to get the very last bits off yuck off. Once you’ve gotten rid of the sticky stuff, wash the whole jar with dish soap to make sure there’s no oil residue left.

Voila! Ready for crafting!
